The Big Muddy Monster Brewfest is an awesome day for celebrating music, craft beer, local folk lore and community.

Founded in 2009, the Big Muddy Monster Brewfest was created with a simple goal:

To support meaningful community projects. Early efforts helped bring popular additions like the dog park at Riverside Park and the splash pad at Longfellow Park to life. Today, the Brewfest continues to grow as one of Southern Illinois’ premier festivals.

Our Mission

The Board of the Big Muddy Monster Brewfest Corporation, in partnership with the Southern Illinois Community Foundation, is committed to delivering an exceptional festival experience while supporting and promoting the craft beverage community. We take pride in building lasting relationships with our breweries, sponsors, vendors, and attendees—all of whom play an important role in making the Brewfest a success.

Giving Back to the Community

At our core, the Brewfest is about reinvesting in Murphysboro and the surrounding area. After event expenses are covered, proceeds go directly toward local improvement projects that benefit the entire community. Past contributions have supported: • Disc golf course at Riverside Park • Sound system at the Liberty Theater • Renovations at the historic Old Depot • Public art projects, Habitat for Humanity, Jackson County Humane Society…and many more initiatives that help our community thrive.

Powered by Volunteers

The heart of the Big Muddy Monster Brewfest is its volunteers. From planning to execution, every aspect of the festival is driven by dedicated individuals—including board members, committee teams, setup crews, pourers, and cleanup crews. Their passion and hard work ensure a safe, welcoming, and unforgettable experience for everyone who attends.
